The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), an NCAA DI institution and member of Conference USA, is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Athletics Director/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletics Trainer is responsible for the healthcare of athletic teams and serves as the athletic trainer for assigned sport(s). The individual evaluates and treats athletic injuries and illnesses including rehabilitation, supervises athletic training at an athletic practice and competition, serves as liaison with the Sports Medicine Care Team for a particular sport, maintains all medical documentation relating to the assigned sport(s), and performs other duties as needed. The individual also adheres to all institution, conference and NCAA rules and regulations and reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines. Minimum requirements include a Bachelors degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience. Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement. Candidate must be currently certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) and obtain licensure for Athletic Training by the State of Alabama upon hire. Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships. Candidate must also possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work a non-standard work week.Please note this position will work a 10 month alternate work schedule.
